چکیده

We present results of our pulsar population synthesis of ordinary isolated and millisecond pulsars in the Galactic plane. Over the past several years, a program has been developed to simulate pulsar birth, evolution and emission using Monte Carlo techniques. We have added to the program the capability to simulate millisecond pulsars, which are old, recycled pulsars with extremely short periods. We model the spatial distribution of the simulated pulsars by assuming that they start with a random kick velocity and then evolve through the Galactic potential. We use a polar cap/slot gap model for γ-ray emission from both millisecond and ordinary pulsars. From our studies of radio pulsars that have clearly identifiable core and cone components, in which we fit the polarization sweep as well as the pulse profiles in order to constrain the viewing geometry, we develop a model describing the ratio of radio core-to-cone peak fluxes. In this model, short period pulsars are more conedominated than in our previous studies. We present the preliminary results of our recent study and the implications for observing these pulsars with GLAST and AGILE.

Gamma-ray Emission Properties from Mature Pulsars in the Galaxy and in the Gould Belt

We study the γ-ray emission properties of pulsars by using a new selfconsistent outer gap model. The outer gap can exist in pulsars with age over million years old if the effect of magnetic inclination angle as well as the average properties of the outer gap are considered. The mature γ-ray pulsars, whose ages are between 0.3 to 3 million years old, are able to move up to high galactic latitude...

Title Gamma-ray emission properties from mature pulsars in the Galaxy and in the Gould Belt

We study the -ray emission properties of pulsars by using a new self-consistent outer gap model. The outer gap can exist in pulsars older than 1 million yr if the effect of magnetic inclination angle, as well as the average properties of the outer gap, are considered. The mature -ray pulsars, whose ages are between 0.3 and 3 million yr, are able to move up to high Galactic latitude. Moreover, t...

Off-beam Gamma-ray Pulsars and Unidentified Egret Sources in the Gould Belt

We investigate whether gamma-ray pulsars viewed at a large angle to the neutron star magnetic pole could contribute to the new population of galactic unidentified EGRET sources associated with the Gould Belt. The faint, soft nature of these sources is distinctly different from both the properties of unidentified EGRET sources along the galactic plane and of the known gamma-ray pulsars. We explo...

A Survey of EGRET Sources for Pulsed Radio Emission

We have made deep searches for pulsed radio signals towards gamma-ray sources detected by the EGRET instrument of the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory. Our observations targeted nineteen sources in the second EGRET source catalog (2EG), primarily sources along the Galactic plane without identiied counterparts. Our observations also covered eight locations listed in earlier catalogs but not in 2EG....

Young pulsars and unidentified gamma-ray sources at the Galactic plane

We present a statistical study on possible association between the unidentified γ-ray point sources at the Galactic plane (|b| ≤ 5◦) and the Galactic young pulsars with ages of less than 106 yr. Based on the possible positional coincidence of the unidentified EGRET sources in the third catalog with the Galactic objects given by Romero et al. (1999) as well as the outer gap model of γ-ray pulsar...
